SYNOPSIS

-

“A Long Goodbye” is the story of Ida, a 72-year-old pianist living with dementia. When her husband Louis knew their remaining time together might be short, he made tape recordings, hoping to stay connected and to bring back some of their shared memories to her. We experience a day in Ida’s life, in their apartment, as her reality is fading. Her world starts empty and undefined, but when we interact with objects and play the tape recordings of her husband Louis, her playful and poetic world gradually comes to life, as if drawn in paint before our eyes. As Ida rediscovers herself, we discover Ida.

“A Long Goodbye” is a magical experience about the impact of dementia, loneliness and loss, but above all about love.
