-

“A Long Goodbye”, an innovative immersive work in virtual reality by Kate Voet and Victor Maes, won the Venice Immersive Achievement Prize at the 82nd Venice Mostra. Co-produced by Tarantula Luxembourg (Donato Rotunno), Belgium and the Netherlands, and its 2D/3D animation was produced by Luxembourg studio Velvet Flare.

The prize, one of three major awards given in the Venice Immersive section, salutes the film for “its creativity and the quality of its direction, as well as its innovative use of immersive technologies.”

“Another great award for our audiovisual and film sector: working with Luxembourg can be very beneficial,” enthused culture minister, Eric Thill.

“This achievement confirms that the Film Fund Luxembourg’s commitment to new digital forms is bearing fruit,” added its director Guy Daleiden,“The work aptly illustrates the narrative and emotional potential of the immersive experience.”

This success is part of a dynamic of growing international recognition for Luxembourg’s immersive works. Last year, Luxembourg won two of the three major prizes in this same category, thus affirming its place of choice on the international immersive scene.
